How a Life Insurance Agent Built a $1M Agency with Marketing Automation & Funnels

Brian Greenberg's playbook that built a $1M+/year online life insurance agency. The Salesman Who Doesn't Sell, sales funnels, automation, and the eventual sale of True Blue Life.

In the ever-evolving world of insurance, digital marketing and automation have become essential tools for agents looking to grow their businesses. One such agent, Brian Greenberg, has harnessed the power of these strategies to build a thriving $1 million life insurance agency – and now he is sharing his playbook with other agents through his software platform, Quoteplicity.

From brick-and-mortar to digital dominance

Brian's journey in the insurance industry began over 15 years ago when he started a traditional brick-and-mortar life insurance agency. But he quickly recognized the potential of the digital landscape, and in 2008, he pivoted his business to a fully online model.

“I started back in like 2008, and it was pretty new to selling over the phone and online,” Brian explains. “I was doing a million plus in annual premium for 10 years in a row, ranking in Google.”

The key to Brian's success: leveraging digital marketing and sales funnels to automate the sales process and generate a steady stream of high-quality leads.

Mastering the art of the sales funnel

At the heart of Brian's approach was the concept of the sales funnel – a strategic process for guiding potential customers from initial awareness to final conversion.

“It's very similar to casting a net,” Brian says. “You want to cast the net, have customers find you. But then there's a second part – you've got to reel that net in and get everything out into the boat.”

The “net” in this analogy is a website – either Brian's own or a third-party platform like Yelp or a local business listing. Once a potential customer is drawn into this ecosystem, the real work begins.

The “Salesman Who Doesn't Sell”

Brian's approach, which he calls the “Salesman Who Doesn't Sell,” involves using the website and sales funnels to do the heavy lifting of the sales process. By anticipating and addressing all of a customer's questions and concerns upfront, he was able to build trust and rapport without the need for traditional, high-pressure sales tactics.

“I would sell somebody so much on my own website, which is what I call a funnel,” Brian explains. “They would answer all the frequently asked questions. Everything that someone would ask, I would answer, and I would build trust and show them all the reviews I had. So, by the time they come to me, they're already sold.”

Automating the sales process

But Brian's approach went beyond just building a compelling website. He also leveraged digital tools and automation to streamline the sales process and nurture leads without constant manual intervention.

“You can do the same thing with automations by sending them emails, text messages, voicemail drops,” Brian says. “All these things you can use to push people further down the sales cycle. Answer all the questions, build the trust, sell the product.”

By automating these follow-up sequences and integrating them with his website's lead capture forms, Brian was able to turn his digital funnel into a high-quality lead engine that generated sales with minimal ongoing effort.

Selling the agency, building the platform

After a decade of success with his life insurance agency, Brian made the strategic decision to sell the business. But this wasn't the end of his entrepreneurial journey – it was the beginning of a new chapter.

“The appealing thing for me was a nice exit,” Brian says. “That's the ultimate victory. It was an agency, True Blue Life Insurance, and it ranked for a long time. Running an agency gets tiring, and sometimes you need a change.”

With the sale of his agency, Brian found himself with a new opportunity – one that would allow him to leverage his expertise in digital marketing and automation to help other insurance agents achieve similar levels of success.

Quoteplicity: automation for insurance agents

Quoteplicity is a software platform designed to provide insurance agents with the tools and technology they need to replicate Brian's playbook. It offers a range of features that empower agents to generate leads, nurture prospects, and close sales more efficiently than ever before.

Lead generation: quote comparison tools

At the heart of Quoteplicity is a powerful quote-comparison tool that allows potential customers to research and compare insurance options on their own. This consumer-facing interface is designed to capture leads and gather valuable information about the customer's needs and preferences.

“The system will walk the customer through the sales process mostly without you,” Brian explains. “It'll get you to the one-yard line. And that's the dream of any agent.”

By providing a seamless self-service quote experience, Quoteplicity helps agents overcome one of the biggest hurdles in the sales process – getting potential customers to engage and share their information. The results speak for themselves:

  • Agents using Quoteplicity are generating life insurance leads for as little as $4–$9 each through Facebook ads.
  • These leads are converting at a rate of 5–10% – a significant improvement over traditional lead sources.

Automated lead nurturing and conversion

Quoteplicity doesn't stop at lead generation. The platform also includes pre-built workflows, email sequences, and text message campaigns to help agents nurture leads and guide them through the sales process.

“We provide a snapshot, and it has everything you need to get up and running, especially if you're using GoHighLevel,” Brian says. “It loads in all the different workflows, 10 emails, 15 text messages. We tag everything that comes in by the type of insurance.”

Integrated application and underwriting tools

Quoteplicity's capabilities go beyond lead generation and nurturing. The platform also includes a suite of tools to streamline the application and underwriting process. “We've got forms. Let's say you're doing a drop ticket, a Banner drop ticket, or a Mutual of Omaha form. We have the full application, every question. Even the banking, social security, driver's license, everything.”

A flexible, agnostic platform

One of the key differentiators of Quoteplicity is its flexibility. Unlike some software platforms that require agents to work within a specific ecosystem or downline, Quoteplicity is designed to be a standalone tool that can be used with any carrier or agency.

“This is subscription-only. It's agnostic, which means you can contract with anybody, sell any company you want,” Brian explains. “I'm just providing you all the tools. If you need contracting, I'll give you a referral, but that's about it.”
